Third legal incident since 2023 draft raises fresh concerns about receiver’s off-field conduct
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested early Monday morning in Tampa, Florida, and charged with misdemeanor trespassing, marking the third brush with law enforcement for the 23-year-old receiver since the team selected him in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Addison was arrested at 3:46 a.m. ET at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino by Seminole Indian Police on probable cause for trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance—a first-degree misdemeanor. He was booked at 7:33 a.m. and released the same afternoon at 2:40 p.m. after posting a $500 cash bond, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office records.
The incident became public Tuesday morning, just as Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and coach Kevin O’Connell were preparing their annual end-of-season news conferences. Both declined to speculate on potential disciplinary measures, though O’Connell acknowledged the team would conduct a thorough investigation.
“We’ll have those conversations, obviously,” O’Connell said. “I don’t wanna speculate on that in any way, shape or form. We’ve gotta get as many facts and find out exactly what happened.”
Pattern of Off-Field Issues
Addison’s latest arrest continues a troubling pattern spanning nearly three years. In July 2023, days before training camp, Minnesota State Patrol cited him for driving 140 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone on a Twin Cities freeway. Addison later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge, paid $686 in fines, and served a three-game suspension.
Almost exactly one year later in July 2024, Addison was arrested on suspicion of DUI after authorities found him asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle on a Los Angeles freeway near LAX. He ultimately pleaded no contest to a “wet reckless” charge—reckless driving with alcohol involvement—and served three-game suspension at the start of the 2025 season.
Monday’s trespassing charge represents an escalation in frequency, with less than a year separating this incident from his previous arrest.
On-Field Performance Decline
The off-field issues have coincided with a marked decline in Addison’s on-field performance. Last season, he recorded just 42 catches for 610 yards and three touchdowns—all career lows. The Vikings’ passing game struggled overall during a challenging season for the offense.
As a first-round pick in 2023, Addison represented a significant investment for Minnesota’s wide receiver corps. At 23 years old, questions now mount regarding his professional maturity and ability to maintain focus during the offseason.
The Vikings’ organization has yet to comment on potential roster moves or additional discipline beyond the NFL’s standard legal process. Team officials said they were still gathering details about Monday’s incident and would make decisions after the facts emerge.
