USA Men’s Hockey Team Set for Olympic Push

USA Hockey Roster Loaded with NHL Elite for Milan Winter Games

Team USA’s men’s hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics features a star-studded lineup of NHL players, led by captain Auston Matthews and a deep roster designed to compete for gold in Milan. The squad opens play against Latvia on Thursday, marking the first Olympic men’s hockey tournament to feature NHL players since 2014.

The US men’s hockey team includes elite talent across all positions, with goaltenders Jeremy Swayman and Jake Oettinger providing depth in net, while forwards like Jack Eichel, Dylan Larkin, and Matthew Tkachuk anchor the offensive attack. On defense, Charlie McAvoy, Zach Werenski, and Jake Sanderson provide veteran leadership.

Tournament Structure and Schedule

Team USA faces a challenging preliminary round in Group C, playing Latvia today, followed by Denmark on February 14 and Germany on February 15. All 12 teams will compete in three preliminary games before advancing to single-elimination playoffs, culminating in the gold medal game on February 22.

Head coach Mike Sullivan leads the USA men’s hockey roster with a coaching staff that includes assistant coaches John Hynes, John Tortorella, and David Quinn. General manager Bill Guerin assembled the team alongside assistant GMs Chris Drury and Tom Fitzgerald.

Olympic Hockey Results and Competition

The tournament marks a significant milestone as the first Winter Olympics men’s ice hockey competition featuring active NHL players since Sochi. The format brings the world’s premier professional league directly to the Olympic stage, intensifying competition across all participating nations.

With a balanced mix of established veterans and rising talent, the USA men’s hockey team aims to compete for medals against traditional powerhouses Canada and other strong European squads. The tournament runs through mid-February at arenas in Milan and Rho.
