Ravens Offensive Coordinator Set to Follow Harbaugh to New York
New York Giants head coach-in-waiting John Harbaugh is expected to bring Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken to the NFL’s oldest franchise, sources told NFL Network. The move would position the veteran play-caller to oversee the offense for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Monken, 59, interviewed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday but is the early leader for the Giants coordinator role. His expected arrival in New York represents a significant offensive overhaul for a franchise looking to develop its young talent around Dart, running back Cam Skattebo, and Pro Bowl receiver Malik Nabers.
Proven Track Record
Monken brings over three decades of coaching experience, including seven years as a play-caller across three NFL teams. In his three seasons with Baltimore, his offenses ranked inside the top 10 in total yards in each year. During the Ravens’ 2023-2024 seasons, the unit ranked first in red-zone touchdown percentage and rushing yards per game.
The coordinator previously served with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2016 to 2018, where he worked with former head coach Dirk Koetter. He also spent time with the Cleveland Browns in 2019, overlapping with Dart’s eventual pro counterpart Baker Mayfield.
Giants Conducting Full Search
While Monken is viewed as the leading candidate, the Giants will conduct a comprehensive coaching search in accordance with NFL hiring regulations. The organization is casting a wide net for both offensive and defensive coordinator positions as Harbaugh assembles his new staff.
Monken’s expected addition signals the Giants’ commitment to building around their young quarterback while bringing established offensive expertise to MetLife Stadium.
