Seahawks Parade Draws Massive Crowd Across Downtown Seattle
An estimated 750,000 to 1 million fans flooded downtown Seattle on Wednesday to celebrate the Seahawks’ second Super Bowl championship. The seafaring fans lined the Seattle parade route from the SODO district near Lumen Field all the way north to Seattle Center, creating one of the largest public gatherings in the city’s recent history.
The parade stretched approximately 2 miles through downtown, beginning at 4th Avenue and Washington Street at 11 a.m. and traveling northbound along Fourth Avenue, concluding at the intersection with Cedar Street in Belltown. The procession was expected to last around two hours, with throngs of supporters waving 12 flags and cheering as players and coaches passed by in Humvees, National Guard vehicles, and atop double-decker buses.
Championship Victory Sparks Historic Celebration
The downtown celebration followed the Seahawks’ dominant 29-13 Super Bowl LX victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium. The win marked the franchise’s second Super Bowl championship since the 2013 season, ending a 12-year championship drought and bringing a Lombardi Trophy back to the Pacific Northwest.
Head Coach Mike Macdonald and General Manager Jon Schneider led the parade, accompanied by standout players including Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. The championship parade route gave fans the chance to celebrate their heroes, with players expressing their pride and defiance toward those who doubted the team throughout the season.
Record Attendance Requires Extensive Logistics
The unprecedented turnout prompted city-wide traffic closures and transit reroutes beginning early Wednesday morning. Sound Transit’s Link 1 Line operated trains every six minutes from 5 a.m. through 6 p.m., while King County Metro implemented shuttle services to move fans into the downtown core from northern and southern hubs. To manage congestion, most downtown buses were rerouted away from the parade corridor. East-west routes that normally cross Fourth Avenue were redirected, with riders encouraged to plan extra time and utilize transit alternatives. The city advised residents and workers to remain home or work remotely to avoid gridlock during peak hours.
