Ravens Hire Bears’ Declan Doyle as Offensive Coordinator
The Baltimore Ravens have hired Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to the same position on new head coach Jesse Minter’s coaching staff for the 2026 season, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.
The move represents a significant promotion for the 29-year-old assistant coach. While Doyle held the offensive coordinator title in Chicago, Ben Johnson handled the play-calling duties. In Baltimore, Doyle will assume full responsibility as the primary play-caller alongside two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
Doyle’s Path to Baltimore
Doyle spent the 2025 season as Chicago’s offensive coordinator after joining the Bears from Sean Payton’s coaching staff with the Denver Broncos, where he served as tight ends coach for two seasons. Prior to that, he worked six years on the Saints’ coaching staff, providing him extensive experience in offensive schemes and player development.
The young coordinator earned recognition for his work in Chicago, where he collaborated with Johnson to engineer a significant turnaround in the Bears’ offensive production. The team finished top 10 in every major offensive category during the 2025 campaign, a marked improvement from previous seasons.
Revitalizing the Ravens’ Offense
The Ravens’ offense finished 11th in points and 16th in yards during a disappointing 2025 campaign, setting the stage for offensive restructuring. Doyle’s experience working alongside Johnson and Payton could provide the blueprint needed to get the unit back into playoff contention.
The Bears granted Doyle permission to interview with other franchises, allowing him to pursue this expanded role. Johnson now faces the task of replacing another top offensive assistant for the 2026 season.
