Melania Trump Documentary Premieres January 29

Melania Trump Documentary Set for Kennedy Center Debut

The highly anticipated Melania Trump movie will make its premiere at the Kennedy Center on January 29, 2026, before its theatrical release on January 30. The documentary, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Brett Ratner, offers audiences exclusive behind-the-scenes access to First Lady Melania Trump during the critical 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration.

What the Film Captures

The documentary chronicles Melania’s meticulous preparations as she navigates the complexities of transitioning back to the White House, including orchestrating inaugural events and overseeing family logistics. Filmed in real time during the transition period, the film provides rare glimpses into spaces and moments typically closed to cameras, showcasing the personal and professional challenges of preparing for one of America’s most scrutinized roles.

“History is set in motion during the 20 days of my life prior to the U.S. presidential inauguration,” Melania Trump said. “For the first time, global audiences are invited into theaters to witness this pivotal chapter unfold—a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my remarkable journey to becoming First Lady of the United States of America.”

Production and Release Details

Amazon MGM Studios acquired exclusive licensing rights to the Melania Trump movie, outbidding Disney and Paramount Pictures for distribution. The streaming and entertainment company paid $40 million for the rights and will also produce a follow-up docuseries focused on the First Lady.

The film features production work from Muse Films, New Element Media, and Ratpac Entertainment, with Melania Trump serving as executive producer alongside Fernando Sulichin, Marc Beckman, and Ratner. Filming commenced in December 2024 following the U.S. presidential election.

Timing and Significance

The theatrical release on January 30 positions the documentary as a historic cultural moment, capturing the immediacy and pressure surrounding one of the most significant transitions in American political life. This marks a departure from traditional First Lady coverage, offering cinematic storytelling of the inauguration preparation process.

The Melania Trump movie arrives as the First Lady also published her self-titled memoir in late 2024, further expanding her public narrative during her return to the White House.
