Lakers Face Bucks With Doncic Leading Injury-Riddled Squad

Doncic Powers Lakers Against Injury-Hit Bucks

Luka Doncic continues to lead the Los Angeles Lakers as they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, fresh off a dominant 38-point triple-double performance in their recent loss to San Antonio. The Lakers remain in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 23-12 record despite struggling through injuries to key contributors.

Lakers Navigate Injury Challenges

The Lakers face a significant roster crunch heading into this matchup. LeBron James missed the second night of a back-to-back against the Spurs, while Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura have both been sidelined for more than a week with calf injuries. Guard Gabe Vincent returned from a nine-game absence due to a back injury but limited his impact with six points in 18 minutes.

Los Angeles shot just 39.5 percent from the floor and 23.1 percent from three-point range in their 107-91 defeat, marking their second-lowest scoring output of the season. The squad committed 17 turnovers, with Doncic and Marcus Smart accounting for 11 of those miscues.

“I still should have done way better than this,” Doncic said after the loss. “I missed free throws and turnovers. We had some great looks but didn’t knock them down.”

Bucks Seek Consistency After Golden State Loss

Milwaukee enters the game at 16-21, sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference standings after falling 120-113 to Golden State on Wednesday. The Bucks have struggled to build momentum this season, unable to string together sustained winning streaks despite flashes of competence.

Giannis Antetokounmpo continues his strong return from a right calf strain, averaging 31.2 points across six games since his comeback. The two-time MVP recorded 34 points with 10 rebounds and five assists in the Warriors loss, showcasing his essential role in Milwaukee’s championship aspirations.

Kevin Porter Jr. contributed 15 points and nine assists in 40 minutes of play against Golden State, highlighting the secondary scoring depth the Bucks will need against Los Angeles. Milwaukee shot an efficient 54.1 percent from the floor but made only seven of 12 free throw attempts—a season-low mark from the charity stripe.

“We just have to continue to weather the storm,” Porter said regarding Milwaukee’s inability to post consecutive victories. “There are a lot of games to be played still.”

Head-to-Head History

The Lakers dominated their previous matchup against Milwaukee on November 15, earning a 119-95 victory at home. Doncic scored 41 points in that contest with Reaves adding 25 points, while James and Hachimura were unavailable. Antetokounmpo posted 32 points with 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

Oddsmakers favor the Lakers with a 3.5-point spread, with the total set at 229.5 points as of game preview time. Los Angeles has won five of their last nine games but remains a top-four playoff contender in the West.
