Johnny Knoxville Launches Fear Factor: House of Fear on Fox

Fear Factor Returns with Johnny Knoxville as Host in Bold Network Reboot

Johnny Knoxville is bringing the iconic reality competition back to television with Fear Factor: House of Fear, which premiered on Fox on January 11 following the NFL Wildcard Game. The Jackass star now hosts what marks the third major reboot of the franchise, taking over hosting duties previously held by Joe Rogan on NBC and Ludacris on MTV.

The show kicked off with its series premiere at 8 p.m. ET and will continue with regular airings on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET, with the first scheduled Wednesday episode airing January 15. Viewers who missed the premiere can catch the opening episode during its regular Wednesday time slot.

A New Format: 14 Contestants, One House, $200,000 Prize

Fear Factor 2026 introduces a significant format change from previous iterations. Rather than competing in teams, 14 strangers are isolated in a remote house together, competing individually for a $200,000 grand prize. This marks the first time the series has incorporated a social living element, forcing contestants to navigate both their personal fears and the psychological complexities of cohabitation.

The debut episode, titled “Sealed Fates,” features the first challenge: contestants are sealed inside airtight bags. According to preview materials, a face-off between a coal miner and a cheerleader leads to shocking early eliminations.

What to Expect From This Reimagined Series

Knoxville, known for his death-defying stunts and boundary-pushing entertainment from the Jackass universe, brings credibility to hosting a show centered on extreme challenges. Fox TV President Michael Thorn praised the casting decision, stating that “Johnny Knoxville is the champion of fearless entertainment. His wild sense of humor, unmatched ability to push boundaries and take on the extreme makes him the perfect fit to lead this bold new reinvention of Fear Factor.”

Fear Factor: House of Fear combines mind-blowing physical stunts with twisted social strategy elements, where trust becomes scarce and fear transforms into a strategic weapon. While previous Fear Factor seasons relied on traditional dares, this reimagined version emphasizes psychological gameplay alongside traditional challenges.

Where to Watch

The series airs exclusively on Fox. Fox shows typically stream on Hulu and Disney+ the day after airing, though no formal streaming announcement has been made specifically for Fear Factor: House of Fear.

The show is produced by Endemol Shine North America, with Kevin Lee serving as executive producer and showrunner. Fear Factor remains internationally renowned, with 32 adaptations across multiple countries.
