Giants Hire Dennard Wilson as Defensive Coordinator Under Harbaugh
The New York Giants have hired Dennard Wilson as their defensive coordinator, marking another key addition to head coach John Harbaugh’s inaugural coaching staff with the team. The 43-year-old Wilson most recently served as the Tennessee Titans’ defensive coordinator over the past two seasons before the franchise began its own coaching overhaul under new head coach Robert Saleh.
Wilson brings a wealth of defensive experience and an existing relationship with Harbaugh. In 2023, Wilson served as the defensive backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens when Harbaugh was the team’s head coach, establishing a strong working relationship that now extends to the Giants.
Building the Giants’ Coaching Staff
The hiring is part of Harbaugh’s broader effort to assemble his coaching staff for the 2026 season. The Giants announced on Sunday that Chris Horton has also been hired as the special teams coordinator, filling another critical role on the sideline. However, the team remains actively searching for an offensive coordinator to complete the core leadership group.
Wilson’s Coaching Background
Wilson’s résumé spans multiple NFL organizations, including previous stints with the Los Angeles Rams from 2012 to 2016, the New York Jets from 2017 to 2018, and the Philadelphia Eagles from 2020 to 2022. His extensive experience across different defensive schemes and teams positions him to lead the Giants’ defensive operations during Harbaugh’s tenure.
