Five-Star QB Raiola Transfers to Oregon from Nebraska

Raiola Commits to Oregon in Major Transfer Portal Move

Former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola announced his transfer to the University of Oregon on Monday morning, joining head coach Dan Lanning’s program as the Ducks pursue another national championship run. The move marks a significant addition to Oregon’s quarterback room and accelerates the program’s recruitment efforts heading into the 2026 season.

Raiola, a former five-star recruit, spent two seasons as a starter for the Cornhuskers, accumulating 4,819 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions across his Nebraska tenure. In 2025, before suffering a season-ending broken fibula injury against USC in November, Raiola had already thrown for 2,000 yards with 18 touchdowns and just six interceptions. The No. 5-ranked quarterback in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings brings immediate starting experience to the Ducks.

Strategic Fit with Oregon’s Championship Roster

Raiola’s arrival complements Oregon’s exceptional 2026 recruiting class, currently ranked No. 3 nationally with 21 committed recruits. He will have the opportunity to work with top-tier talent including four-star wide receiver Jalen Lott, four-star tight end Kendre Harrison, and four-star running back Tradarian Ball. The dynamic offensive weapons position Oregon as a legitimate title contender.

The move also strengthens Lanning’s aggressive transfer portal strategy. Oregon landed the No. 5-ranked transfer class last season with 11 commits and continues to bolster its roster alongside other portal additions, including Penn State tight end Andrew Olesh.

Navigating the Dante Moore Question

Raiola’s commitment adds an intriguing layer to Oregon’s quarterback situation. Current Ducks starter Dante Moore, projected as a potential second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has not yet announced whether he will declare for the draft or return for a third season. The deadline for underclassmen to declare is January 14.

Sources indicate Raiola’s camp has communicated to Oregon that he would be willing to redshirt and sit behind Moore if the veteran quarterback decides to stay. This arrangement mirrors Moore’s own path two years ago when he transferred from UCLA and sat behind Dillon Gabriel before emerging as one of the nation’s top prospects. If Moore declares for the draft, Raiola would likely assume the starting role immediately.

Raiola’s Path Forward

Since his breakup with Nebraska became apparent in late November, Oregon was the singular focus for Raiola and his family. The quarterback views the Ducks as his best path to championship competition and professional development—a track record evidenced by Oregon’s recent quarterback successes. Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel, and Dante Moore all significantly elevated their draft stock after transferring to Eugene.

Whether Moore returns or departs will ultimately determine Raiola’s role in 2026. Either way, Oregon’s quarterback room now stands as one of the most talented in college football.
