Eagles Hire Sean Mannion as New Offensive Coordinator

Eagles Name Former Packers QB Coach as New Offensive Coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles have hired Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday. The 33-year-old replaces Kevin Patullo, who held the position for the 2025 season. Mannion joins the Eagles as a rising coaching talent tasked with reviving an offense that struggled significantly this past year.

Mannion, who spent the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, was promoted from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach ahead of the 2025 season. During his tenure in Green Bay, he oversaw the development of quarterback Jordan Love and played a key role in nurturing backup Malik Willis into one of the NFL’s most trusted reserve signal-callers.

Reviving a Struggling Eagles Offense

The Eagles’ offensive production plummeted dramatically in 2025. Scoring dropped from 27.2 points per game (7th in the league) to 22.3 (19th), while offensive efficiency fell from fourth to 19th. The rushing attack also declined sharply from 179 yards per game (2nd best) to 116.9 yards (18th), the lowest production marks during the Nick Sirianni era. The defending Super Bowl champions endured a sharp decline after their championship season, making the hire of an eagles oc a critical decision for the organization.

With Mannion now serving as the sean mannion coach leading Philadelphia’s offense, he becomes the fifth different play-caller for quarterback Jalen Hurts, who will enter his seventh NFL season in 2026.

From Player to Coach

Mannion brings an interesting perspective to the Eagles’ coaching staff. He transitioned into coaching after a nine-year NFL playing career, most recently serving as a backup quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings. He finished his playing career in 2023 before joining the Packers’ coaching staff in 2024. His recent experience as an active player gives him a contemporary understanding of modern offensive concepts and defensive schemes.

At just 33 years old, Mannion is regarded as a young coach with innovative ideas similar to how offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni was perceived when he arrived in Philadelphia. The Eagles conducted extensive interviews during the offseason search, indicating they performed thorough due diligence in selecting their offensive coordinator for the 2026 season.
