Eagles Fire Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo After Disappointing 2025 Season
The Philadelphia Eagles have fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, head coach Nick Sirianni announced Tuesday, January 13. The decision comes two days after the Eagles’ 23-19 wild-card playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, marking another offensive coordinator change for the franchise.
A Costly One-Year Tenure
Patullo, 44, took over as Eagles offensive coordinator in 2025 after the team promoted him from associate head coach. His single season in the role proved unsuccessful, with the Eagles finishing 19th in scoring offense (22.3 points per game) and 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game)—easily the worst offensive statistics during head coach Sirianni’s five-year tenure.
“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator,” Sirianni said in a statement. “I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization.”
Eagles Struggles Define Historic Decline
The Eagles’ offensive woes became increasingly apparent as the season progressed. After their Week 9 bye, the team surpassed 20 points in just three of their remaining 10 regular-season games. In Sunday’s playoff loss, Philadelphia’s offensive breakdown was particularly stark—the team managed just a single net yard of offense across four final possessions.
Wide receiver A.J. Brown publicly complained about his role throughout the season, while running back Saquon Barkley, the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year, struggled to replicate his previous success under the new offensive coordinator’s play-calling scheme.
Fifth Coordinator in Five Years
The Kevin Patullo fired decision leaves the Eagles searching for their fifth offensive coordinator in five years. Prior to Patullo, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore departed to become the New Orleans Saints’ head coach following the team’s Super Bowl LIX championship season.
Despite the offensive coordinator change, Sirianni emphasized accountability, stating, “Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”
Room for Optimism
The Eagles still possess one of the most talented offensive rosters in the NFL, featuring elite weapons and a young quarterback in Jalen Hurts. Notably, when the franchise made a similar coordinator change following a wild-card disappointment in previous years, they rebounded to return to the Super Bowl the following season.
