Deadpool Officially Arrives as Marvel Rivals’ First Triple-Role Hero
Deadpool is finally joining the Marvel Rivals roster when Season 6 launches on Friday, January 16, 2026. The “Merc with a Mouth” marks a groundbreaking addition to the hero shooter as the game’s first-ever three-in-one character, allowing players to switch between Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist roles on the fly.
The latest Marvel Rivals season 6 patch notes reveal Deadpool’s versatile playstyle: as a Duelist, he deals damage using dual pistols and katanas; as a Vanguard, he brings survivability and team support with a unicorn plushie-style shield; and as a Strategist, he heals allies while maintaining offensive firepower.
Season 6 Balance Changes and Updates
Beyond Deadpool’s arrival, the Marvel Rivals patch notes season 6 introduce significant balance adjustments across the roster. Several heroes are receiving buffs, including Hulk, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Blade, and Cloak & Dagger. Conversely, Angela, Daredevil, Gambit, and Invisible Woman are being tuned down. NetEase specifically called out overpowered Strategists as the reason for these adjustments, aiming to reduce their solo power while giving mobile heroes more room to fight enemy backlines.
Namor is receiving adjustments that push more power into his base kit while reducing reliance on Team-Up abilities.
New Features and Map Coming to Marvel Rivals
The marvel rivals season 6 update brings fresh content beyond the new hero. Times Square is gaining a Photo Mode launching January 16, allowing players to capture in-game moments with custom camera angles and filters. A new map, “Museum of Contemplation,” debuts on January 29 as part of the “Night at the Museum” theme.
Two new Team-Up abilities are also arriving: Peni Parker and Spider-Man gain a Web-Bomb combo, while Deadpool and Jeff the Landshark create the “Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box” Team-Up. Two older Team-Ups are being retired: Ever-Burning Bond (Human Torch and Spider-Man) and Rocket Network (Peni Parker connection).
System Changes and Future Content
Hero Proficiency is expanding with higher level caps, multiple reward pages per hero, and new cosmetics including animated Dynamic Avatars. Resource Rumble is temporarily removed from Quick Match on January 16 but will return later, rebuilt for 18v18 gameplay.
NetEase has also promised a new PvE mode alongside Marvel Zombies content sometime in the first half of 2026, though specific details remain under wraps.
