Christopher Columbus High School Placed on Precautionary Lockdown
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded Wednesday to reports of a potential armed suspect near Christopher Columbus High School, prompting authorities to place the campus on precautionary lockdown as law enforcement searched the area.
Multiple police units arrived at the private Catholic preparatory school following the reports, with deputies and the agency’s Priority Response Team conducting a thorough search of the campus. Nearby St. Brendan Elementary and other schools in the area were also placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure while officials assessed the situation.

As of Wednesday evening, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office had not confirmed whether a shooting occurred or whether an armed suspect was actually present on campus.
