‘The Blind Side’ Actor Quinton Aaron Hospitalized on Life Support
Quinton Aaron, who starred as Michael Oher in the acclaimed film ‘The Blind Side,’ is fighting for his life on life support after developing a severe blood infection. The actor was intubated Friday and placed on mechanical breathing assistance at a hospital, according to his wife Margarita Aaron.
The health crisis began with mysterious neck pain that prompted his wife to call 911. Doctors determined that Aaron’s breathing had become sporadic and immediately placed him on an endotracheal tube for respiratory support. His medical team continues running tests to identify the root cause of the infection.
Wife Remains Optimistic About Recovery
“He’s a very strong fighter, and you know, he is making progress day by day,” Margarita told Fox News Digital. “I believe God’s got him, and he believes God’s got him.”
During a recent hospital visit, Margarita said Aaron appeared somewhat lucid, though not fully responsive. “I did at least get a thumbs up out of him when I chatted with him, which was promising,” she said. Aaron is currently receiving blanket antibiotics while doctors work to determine the specific cause of the blood infection.
Previous Health Challenges
This hospitalization comes several years after Aaron experienced a significant health scare that transformed his life. In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Aaron fell off a waterfront wall in Louisiana into shallow water, losing consciousness in what he described as a profound spiritual moment.
Following that incident, Aaron discovered he had an infection in his toe that had spread to the bone, which doctors later attributed to diabetic ketoacidosis caused by dangerously high blood sugar levels. That near-death experience prompted a complete lifestyle overhaul, leading Aaron to lose over 200 pounds.
“I had this come-to-Jesus kind of moment a few years back,” Aaron recalled, describing how he heard a voice telling him to stand up while submerged underwater. “I believe God’s got him” has become his family’s rallying cry during this current medical battle.
Career Highlights
Aaron gained widespread recognition for his role as Michael Oher in ‘The Blind Side,’ the 2009 film inspired by the true story of a Tennessee family that adopted the future NFL player. In the movie, he starred alongside Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw, earning praise for his powerful performance.
