Atalanta Dominates Juventus to Reach Coppa Italia Semifinals
Atalanta delivered a decisive 3-0 victory over Juventus in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals on Thursday evening at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo, Italy, eliminating the Turin club and advancing to the semifinals.[3][5]
Gianluca Scamacca opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 27th minute after Gleison Bremer was adjudged to have handled Éderson’s cross following a VAR review.[5] Kamaldeen Sulemana doubled Atalanta’s lead in the 77th minute with a composed finish from Raoul Bellanova’s cross, and Mario Pasalic sealed the result moments later to secure what marks just the second win in Atalanta’s last six matches across all competitions.[5]
Juventus Falters Despite Early Pressure
Despite the scoreline, Juventus created numerous scoring opportunities that suggested a closer contest than the final result indicated.[1][3] Francisco Conceição was particularly dangerous in the opening stages, forcing a save from Mattia Carnesecchi in the 18th minute and striking the crossbar five minutes later with a powerful left-footed effort.[3][5]
Weston McKennie had two clear-cut chances in the second half but failed to capitalize, while Jonathan David and Lloyd Kelly also squandered opportunities that could have changed the trajectory of the match.[3][5] Manager Luciano Spalletti’s side dominated possession in the opening quarter but were ultimately undone by Atalanta’s clinical finishing on the counter-attack.
Juventus Exits in Back-to-Back Years
